I started a great book this morning, and I can’t wait to see where it leads. It is Dancing at Your Desk, A Metaphysical Guide to Job Happiness, by Sue Frederick. I do love the idea of it so far – that one can enjoy their job sooo much that they are just so excited to be there everyday.
One of the first things she brings up is an interesting point. “What if you had $2 million in the bank, but still had to work? What would you do?”
For some of you reading this, your brain instantly popped up with an answer – or even two or three. For me, it was more garbled, even after doing the ten minute meditation, but I’m sure something further in the book will help. It really is an amazing book so far.
The point is, that I see people miserable in their jobs all the time, and have certainly been in that spot a time or two myself. On the one hand, you ache, yearn for, and even need stability, but on the other hand, all of our heart’s really cry out to do something we love. It’s the finding of something we love that is the real trick.
When sending out resumes, personally, I do try to target jobs that I think I will enjoy based on a couple paragraph description in a newspaper, or online source, but you can never tell what you’re going to get when you start. I do really like the author’s advice though – raise your intention level – pray for the best, believe in the best, and you can attract the best.
I will have to let you all know how it turns out!
All best,
Rose
